She is known for her fashion forward approach to style.

So it was no surprise Jennifer Connelly brought one of her most chic looks to a screening of The Avengers: Age Of Ultron on Tuesday night.

The evergreen 44-year-old star was at the event in New York City to support her husband Paul Bettany who stars in the highly-anticipated superhero sequel.

However it was Jennifer who looked super as she rocked an intricately patterned black mini dress featuring a shiny, intricate pattern all over it.

The designs on the frock had a kimono-influence to it as it also featured puffy sleeves and a full zipper down the front of the dress as she teamed the look with a pair of black leather heels.

Jennifer had her raven-coloured locks worn down in a middle-part as she had natural, complimentary make-up on her face topped off with a swipe of pink lipstick.

Paul looked dapper in a black slim fit suit over a crisp white button-down, black tie and black leather dress shoes. He performs double duty in the film as he plays Vision in addition to his regular role as Tony Stark's butler Jarvis.

Several others from the star-studded class were also in attendance at the event including newcomer to the Marvel universe Elizabeth Olsen.

The 26-year-old younger sister of the Olsen twins Mary-Kate and Ashley looked chic as she donned a long black coat over a matching top and trousers combination with black leather heels.

Her blonde locks were tied back in an elegant ponytail as her evening make-up was finished off with dark red lipstick. 

This is Elizabeth's first go in the superhero franchise as she takes on the role of Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, in the film.

One familiar face at the event was Cobie Smulders, who reprises her role as agent Maria Hill, from the highly popular 2012 The Avengers flick.

The 33-year-old Canadian stunner donned a low-cut black sleeveless number featuring a thigh high split down the middle of the front of the dress. 

The former How I Met Your Mother star had her brunette tresses worn down into waves as she finished off her look with a swipe of shiny nude lip.

Other stars at the event from the comic book sequel included Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner, who play Bruce Banner/The Hulk and Clint Barton/Hawkeye, respectively.

Not seen at the outing but are also a part of the main cast of the flick are  Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

The blockbuster is the follow up to 2012's Avengers Assemble, which took a stunning $1.5 billion worldwide according to Box Office Mojo.

The action adventure kicks off with Tony Stark jumpstarting a dormant peacekeeping program. But things go badly wrong, forcing the Avengers to reassemble.

As the fate of Earth hangs in the balance, the team battles Ultron, played by James Spader, a technological terror hell-bent on human extinction.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in cinemas in the U.S. on Friday 1 May.
